Amazon, HMV and the band’s online shop all stopped selling the Take That Live 2015 DVD just five days after it was released. A notice on the Amazon website states that the DVD is “currently unavailable and is “under review” and they are “working on a resolution.”
It states: “We have been informed of a defect in copies of the DVD which is included with this title, which results in freezing/interruption of play between 13 and 15 minutes. We are currently working on a resolution and will be contacting customers in due course to replace any orders sold and dispatched directly by Amazon.co.uk as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
Fans have been waiting nearly six months for the DVD of the trio’s sold-out stadium concerts and were annoyed to find it freezes for 10 seconds during the opening track I Like It. Over the last few days they have made numerous complaints on Facebook, Twitter and the Amazon website about the DVD, which is part of their re-released album III 2015 edition. Many have given the DVD just one star in the Amazon review section.
One customer wrote: “Bought this and I'm it sending it back it freezes 13.55 minutes in. How Universal could have made such a mistake is beyond me. “No quality control here. Hoping Universal re issue all the DVDs in the next few weeks. Very expensive mistake on their part. Lesson learned I hope.”
Another shopper added: “Poor quality master - as other reviews, the dvd freezes in the first song. We've tried a replacement but the same happens. Whoever was responsible for quality control needs a new job! "
Whilst another wrote: “Don't get me wrong, no fault on the part of TT here (fine album, terrific gig!) - nor Amazon, who are soon going to be deluged by customers wanting replacements! Can't believe no one at Universal didn't check this before clearing it for release - it's not like the fault occurs at the back end of a later track but in the opening number!!”
Yesterday Howard Donald tweeted: “Enjoying the live DVD anyone??” and was inundated with replies complaining about the glitch. Claire Pegler tweeted: “ @HowardDonald lol we've all had to send them back they stick!” Beki #GB Army tweeted: “@HowardDonald morning!!! It glitches!!!!!” Nat added: “All that money spent on an amazing production to be let down by a shoddy DVD version of it. Just a shame really.”
Take That are renowned for their hugely popular concert DVD’s. In 2009 the DVD of their Circus tour became the fastest selling music DVD of all time, on the day it was released. When the DVD of their Progress tour was released in 2011 it sold “twice as much as the entire music DVD chart combined” in just two days.
