The 58-year-old, who plays Inspector Geordie Keeting in the 1950s detective drama, saw the funny side as he jumped out of the open-top red Triumph Herald to give it a push start. The actor had a big smile on his face as he helped to fix the vintage car, which was being driven by his new co-star Rishi Nair, who plays parish priest Alphy Kotteram.
The pair were filming series nine of the programme, which sees Hollyoaks star Rishi, 32, takes over from actor Tom Brittney as Grantchester’s new vicar. After half a hour of frantically trying to fix the car, they were seen driving through the streets of Cambridgeshire, with Robson in the passenger seat.
Rishi is taking over from actor Tom Brittney as the new village vicar in this series. Tom has played parish priest, Will Davenport, since 2019 and before him the vicar was played by actor James Norton. The series is adapted from the Grantchester Mysteries novels by James Runcie and was developed for television by Daisy Coulam.
Returning cast members this season are also expected to include Oliver Dimsdale as Daniel Marlowe, Nick Brimble as Jack Chapman and Charlotte Ritchie as Brittney’s on-screen wife Bonnie.
Season eight is currently being shown in the US and is expected to arrive on ITV1 and ITVX later this year. The previous season ended with Will and Bonnie getting married.
