The 40-year-old, who played the first vicar in the Grantchester series, Sidney Chambers, was seen chatting to his former cast mates as they filmed the final ever series of the crime drama in Cambridge city centre. The Happy Valley star was spotted speaking to Robson Green, who plays DI Geordie Keating and has partnered up with each of the different vicars over the past 11 series and helped them solve the crimes.
Norton, who wore a pink baseball cap, denim shirt, white T shirt and trainers without socks, was also seen chatting with Rishi Nair, who plays the latest vicar, Alphy Kotteram, and hugging Al Weaver, who has played Leonard Finch throughout the drama series.
The first series of Grantchester was broadcast in 2014 and Norton appeared in the first three seasons, before actor Tom Brittney took over the lead role as Reverend Will Davenport until series nine. Rishi Nair became the third and final vicar, Alphy Kotteram, for series 10 and the final series, which is currently being filmed.

Norton’s appearance on set comes as writer, series creator and executive producer Daisy Coulam told TV Insider that some of the former vicars might “possibly” be popping up this season.
She said: “We still haven’t decided. But there is always a sense that the ghosts of the vicars live on. Sidney (James Norton) gets a mention now and then, and Will (Tom Brittney) gets a mention.”
