King Charles’ rarely-seen beloved Aston Martin has been spotted for the first time in three years as it was taken for its annual service.

The two-seater 1969 DB6 Volante, which he lent to William and Kate for their wedding in 2011, was put on the back of a truck on his Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

The rare Seychelles blue convertible was last seen on display at a royal motor show in 2022 and is rarely seen in public – notching up less than 1,000 miles in the last four years, according to records. King Charles bought the motor shortly before his 21st birthday in 1969, specifying a blue leather interior.

Only 38 examples of the Mk2 Volante, featuring flared wheel arches, power steering and a five-speed gearbox, were ever built and cost about £5,000 new, with prices at auction now exceeding £1 million. He once said he was “devoted” to the vehicle, which he had modernised in 2008 to run on waste from the British wine and cheese industries.
