The Old Rectory in Marston Moretaine, in Bedfordshire, was originally put up for sale in April 2024 after his daughter, Hannah Ingram-Moore, and her family were told to bulldoze their controversial £200,000 spa complex. Central Bedfordshire Council told them to demolish the building, which contained a SPA POOL, after the family lost an appeal following a ruling from the planning inspector that it was 'at odds' with their Grade Two listed home.
Mr and Mrs Ingram-Moore had been given permission to make a Captain Tom Foundation Building in their garden to store cards and gifts sent by admirers, but they added a sauna and spa, which were not part of the original plans. The house was removed from the market at the end of 2024 after it failed to sell, but has since been marketed by Micheal Graham estate agents, with a guide price of £1,950,000.
The Grade II listed property, which has seven bedrooms and four bathrooms, was lived in by Captain Tom with his daughter Hannah Ingram-Moore and her family. It is set in 3.5 acres and has a separate coach house, which is being used as a gym. Captain Tom rose to fame after he raised almost £39 million for NHS charities by walking around his garden 100 times using a walking frame during the first Covid lockdown in the spring of 2020. He was later knighted by the Queen and died in February 2021.
