Press Cutting
The deputy mayor of a Fenland market town has married his young Filipino bride– believed to be four decades younger than him.

Kit Owen, 73, who has been mayor of March in Cambridgeshire five times, tied the knot with Aiza Bonus. The pensioner, whose former ITV Anglia beauty queen wife Beverly died suddenly a decade ago, beamed with happiness as he married Aiza at the registration office in March.

Councillor Owen, who is expected to become mayor again in May, was joined by a number of council colleagues and friends for the special occasion. He was dressed in a cream suit, with a red tie and a pink buttonhole, whilst Aiza wore a pink dress and carried a bouquet of pink and white flowers. The small ceremony was held at The Wordsworth Room in March Library and afterwards the pair posed for pictures, with Aiza giving him a kiss on the lips.

Councillor Owen said: “We have known each other for a very long time and this [marriage] seemed like the best, logical next step for us both.”

After the ceremony the new couple celebrated with a reception at Ye Olde Griffin in March High Street.

Councillor Owen was previously married to former beauty queen Beverly Owen, who died in 2008. They had two children together, Lisa and Jonathan.
