Rishi, who is best known for his role as Sami Maalik in Hollyoaks, was seen smiling and laughing as he was introduced to the crew in the pretty village of Grantchester in Cambridgeshire. The actor, who was wearing his vicar robes, is set to replace Tom Brittney, who has played the part since 2019.
He was seen joking around with Tom and Robson Green, who plays Inspector Geordie Keeting in the 1950s detective drama, before the three of them went into the village church to film. Earlier in the day, Rishi was seen driving an open top red Triumph Herald as he marked his arrival in the Cambridgeshire village.
Rishi, who was wearing a brown suede jacket and shades, said in a recent statement: “The welcome and support I've received from everyone has been overwhelming. The success of the show and the reason we are here for a ninth season is a testament to all the people that have previously worked on it. I'm really excited to get started and cannot wait for the Grantchester fans to meet Alphy and to see all that's in store for him.”
