The 59-year-old actor was seen bonding with Hollyoaks star Nair as they returned to the pretty Cambridgeshire village to film series 10 of the 1950s detective drama. The pair were spotted learning their lines together and were later ambushed by a huge group of fans, who they posed for selfies with as they shot scenes outside the village church.
Nair, 33, who plays parish priest Alphy Kotteram, was dressed in his black vicar’s suit and used a large umbrella to shelter from the rain. He was seen unloading bags of groceries from his vintage car and chatting with actress Tessa Peake-Jones, who plays the vicarage housekeeper. At one point he was also seen racing out of the vicarage and running down the road.
Green, who plays his friend Inspector Geordie Keeting, wore a brown pin-striped suit, white shirt and brown tie and was seen smoking a cigarette as the Grantchester congregation left the church.
Rishi took over from actor Tom Brittney as the new village vicar in series nine, which premiered in the US earlier this summer and is still to air in the UK.
The series is adapted from the Grantchester Mysteries novels by James Runcie and was developed for television by Daisy Coulam.
Returning cast members this season are expected to include Al Weaver, Tessa Peake-Jones, Kacey Ainsworth, Oliver Dimsdale, Nick Brimble, Bradley Hall and Melissa Johns.
Writer and executive producer Daisy Coulam said: “This show is a testament to our lovely team — the cast and crew. I'm so grateful and proud that we get to come back together for our 10th season and another glorious summer in Grantchester.”
