The Monarch, 76, was seen arriving at his Royal Sandringham estate in Norfolk in the back of his top-of-the-range black BMW i7 M70 xDrive. The eco-conscious King bought the car in February and used it to be chauffeured to the Sunday service at St Mary Magdalene Church. It is the latest green car to be added to the King’s fleet of electric vehicles after he fitted charging points at his Royal households.
The BMW boasts a 341-mile range on a single battery and can race from 0-60mph in just 3.7 seconds. Hooked up to a rapid charger it can boost the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 34 minutes.
Last month it was reported that the King has also placed an order for a £160,000 new Lotus Eletre - an all-electric 'hyper-SUV' that combines supercar performance with green credentials.
He previously used the Royal family’s first all-electric car, an EV400 HSE Jaguar I-Pace, which was delivered in 2018, but the car was auctioned off last year.
