King Charles has turned a royal retreat on his Sandringham estate in Norfolk - once used by King Edward VII to entertain his mistress - into a posh £6,300-a week holiday home.

The Monarch, 76, has restored three-bedroom Victorian house, The Folly, where Albert Edward (Bertie) Prince of Wales used to spend time with his mistress, actress Lillie Langtry. King Edward VII made regular visits to the turreted “love nest” between 1877 and 1880 after he was given Sandringham House as a country home for him and his future wife, Princess Alexandra of Denmark.

Now holidaymakers can follow in the footsteps of royalty and stay in the historic house, which is nestled in the estate’s private woodland and boasts “royal artefacts” in the rooms.

Oliver’s Travels, which is exclusively marketing the house, states: “This exceptional turreted retreat surrounded by centuries-old trees, has been sensitively refurbished to the highest standard, blending timeless heritage with refined contemporary comfort. This is a rare opportunity to enjoy a private escape on regal grounds.”

The unique home, which sleeps six guests, features three bedrooms arranged across two upstairs wings and a turret, accessed by an external stone staircase, which offers magnificent views across the estate and glimpses of the sea. Downstairs the drawing rooms has French doors opening onto the lawn, a dining room and a kitchen with a butler sink. The luxury holiday home, which “blends royal history with quiet grandeur” costs £6,300 a week during the school holidays.

Oliver’s Travels adds: “Originally built as a place where ladies retired for tea, this turreted gem with wrap-around balcony has been transformed into a luxurious retreat, inviting guests to experience life at the heart of one of Britain’s most iconic royal residences. With input from the Sandringham team, The Folly honours its romantic past while embracing modern comfort. Period features - stone hearths, arched entryways, hand-finished floors - have been lovingly preserved. Throughout the house, royal artefacts from the private collection add depth and authenticity.”
