Pop star Ed Sheeran has admitted he wrote off his first car, a £200,000 Aston Martin DB9, by driving it along a flooded road.

The Shape of You singer, who was chatting to actor Barry Keoghan on the YouTube channel GOAT Talk, said he abandoned the expensive car near his Suffolk home after flood water starting pouring inside.

Sheeran, who said it was the “worst purchase” he had ever made, said: “It was a lovely car, I was driving back from the studio and there’s a country lane to get to my house, and I was driving down it and there was this big puddle, and I was like I’ll just drive slowly through this puddle. And I started driving slowly and it’s going in like this and I can see the water at my windows, and I’m like oh f*** and then I see the water go in the thing and then suddenly it just stops. I’m like a mile from my house and I’m like oh well f*** and I keep trying to start it and then I open my door and all this water comes in and I left it on the road. Someone picked it up and I haven’t seen it since.”

Barry asked Sheeran: “Are you serious?” And Sheeran added: “I just left it there and that is why it’s the worst purchase I ever made.”
