The Monarch is selling lamb, beef and venison burgers made from cattle, deer and sheep on his estate. The £14.50 burgers are served up with chips, coleslaw - and a pint of Sandringham IPA or Golden Bitter, made with organic spring barley from his farmland.
Hungry visitors can also tuck into a mini trio board of burgers, which includes all three varieties for £16.50, accompanied by a selection of dips. The lamb burgers are flavoured with mint, thyme, oregano and rosemary and are served in a brioche bun with a tzatziki dip. The venison burgers feature garlic, Worcestershire sauce and oregano and are accompanied by mango chutney and red cabbage coleslaw. Whilst the beef burgers come with an ale chutney.
The burgers are now on sale in the main Sandringham estate restaurant, with the menu stating:
Sandringham Farms manage 2,400 hectares of farmland "in-hand" and eight tenants farm a further 4,000 hectares. Farming the land organically brings food from farm to fork and is a fundamental part of the Sandringham Estate. Fed and finished predominantly on grass, Shorthorn cross breed cattle and a flock of 3000 strong Aberfield Sheep graze in the surrounding fields. Producing organic meat alongside a diverse range of crops such as wheat, barley, beans and oat varieties plus a range of heritage grains, ensures a quality that remains local and minimises our food miles.
