The 53-year-old has submitted plans to transform 20 ACRES of his privately-owned estate into a new “leisure destination” which would provide “a fun, exciting and educational day out.”
The dad-of-two wants to make a play barn, education centre, café and five outdoor play zones in the grounds of Horseheath Lodge, which is set in rolling countryside near Linton on the border with Suffolk and Essex.
Bayford wants the play park to include sensory trails, den building using trees from the estate, tractor and trailer tours, animal encounters and walled garden visits to learn about how the produce is grown. The plans also feature pond dipping opportunities and water play, rest areas with green living roof spaces and a permanent maze using willow, bamboo, beach, hay and straw bales.
An education centre would be built to teach children about sustainability through play with rope swings, a replica mini biomass boiler that children would fill up with foam to learn about the production of heat and an educational space with a number of classrooms.
